Agrarian Development and Irrigation Minister Nelly Paredes paid a guided visit to the Peruvian Navy training ship
BAP Union, which will serve as a platform to exhibit small-scale farmers' products throughout 16 countries across all five continents around the world, with a view to entering new markets.
Casa Peru is a strategy implemented by PromPeru in order to promote the South American country's tourist destinations and reinforce the Peru Brand through experiences.
On this occasion, Sierra y Selva Exportadora will be in charge of displaying the value-added family farming products, placing emphasis on coffee, cacao, quinoa, chestnuts, among other products.
Minister Paredes arrived at the Port of Callao accompanied by representatives of the Peruvian Navy, Sierra Exportadora, and other sector officials.
Once there, the head of Midagri highlighted the Government's support in opening new markets for small-scale producers, which will result in higher income and will enhance the quality of life of farming families.
BAP Union, the largest and fastest sailing ship in Latin America, is scheduled to set sail next Saturday, June 17, and will travel the seas of five continents for 10 months. Its return to Peru is set for April 2024.
The training ship's crew will be made up of 255 sailors, including cadets, officers, and the medical staff, who are responsible for keeping the ship in perfect condition during the 312 days of the journey.
The first stop will be the island of Tahiti, in French Polynesia, on July 13, 2023. Then, on August 16, Bap Union will be arriving in Guam, an island located in the Western Pacific (United States).
Afterwards, the vessel will continue its journey to various destinations, such as Tokyo (Japan), Port of Busan (South Korea), Singapore, Bombay (India), Suez Canal, among others.
