The Senate Plenary approved Draft Legislative Resolution No. 00008-2026-2031-S authorizing
President Keiko Fujimori to leave the
national territory from September 21 to 25, 2026, to travel to New York City, United States, and participate in the United Nations General Assembly.
The initiative received 34 votes in favor, 12 against, and 3 abstentions.
According to the proposal, the Head of State is scheduled to address the General Assembly on Tuesday, September 22.
The top official will present the new Government’s priorities and the main guidelines of Peru's foreign policy.
Moreover, her official agenda includes bilateral meetings with heads of state and representatives of international organizations.
It also includes activities aimed at promoting investment, as well as meetings on transnational organized crime, sustainability, and international cooperation.
During the Head of State’s absence, First Vice President Luis Galarreta will be in charge of the Presidential Office.
