Following the cancellation of Robbie Williams' second concert scheduled for Thursday night in Lima, the English star left the hotel where he is staying in Miraflores district to sing "Angels" with fans who could hardly believe it, undoubtedly allowing more than one of them to fulfill a dream.
Minutes earlier, a representative of the musician announced outside the Belmond hotel that the mega star would come out at some point to interact with the public, but asked everyone to remain calm.
Numerous people had been waiting there for several hours, unaware that there would be an impromptu show.
Suddenly, Williams appeared wearing a black tracksuit with white stripes and a white-and-black cap.
The artist had arrived in Peru to present his new studio album "Britpop," as well as his greatest hits.
After saying that he was heartbroken at being unable to perform, Williams sang part of his iconic song "Angels" a cappella, accompanied by the fans gathered outside the hotel.
"We'll come back as soon as we can. Now I'd like to do a little show here," the singer told the crowd.
Suddenly, he shouted, "Everybody!" sending his followers into a frenzy as they sang with even greater enthusiasm.
The performer promised to return soon and took off his tracksuit jacket, revealing a Peru national soccer team jersey bearing the inscription "Williams" on the back, prompting even more screams and applause.
The magical moment had come to an end.
Earlier on Thursday, the Municipality of San Miguel District ordered the closure of Arena 1 Park after warning of serious safety risks during the first show.
Hundreds of fans who had purchased tickets in the hope of seeing the artist had also gathered at the venue since early in the day.
At a mature stage of his career
The British singer arrived in Lima at a mature stage of his career after regaining the success of his early years as a solo artist, thanks to the documentary about his life released on Netflix and, particularly, the film "Better Man," Ticketmaster reported.
In it, he told his life story in an ironic, playful, and raw manner and was portrayed by an animated monkey, earning international nominations, including one for the Academy Awards.
In Peru, the film was watched by more than 100,000 people.
During last Wednesday's performance at Arena 1 Park, the star performed hits such as "Angels," "Feel," "Supreme," and "Millennium," which marked the culmination of his first stage as a solo artist.
During that period, he demonstrated his strong connection with audiences at his live shows, considered among the best offered by a British artist because of his outstanding qualities as an entertainer and showman.
