The number of confirmed cases of monkeypox in Peru has risen to 29, including patients in 12 districts across Metropolitan Lima and one in the Lima Provinces region, according to the
Ministry of Health (Minsa).
In a post on Twitter, Minsa states that people with this viral infection are located in the districts of Surco, Jesus Maria, Pueblo Libre, Central Lima, San Martin de Porres, Los Olivos, Santa Anita, San Miguel, Rimac, Surquillo, San Borja and San Isidro (Metropolitan Lima), as well as the district of Barranca (Lima Provinces).
All of them have already received medical assistance, and their contacts have been identified.
Within this framework, Minsa urged the population to continue complying with the prevention measures already announced by health authorities to avoid more cases of this type.
These measures include reducing contact with suspected cases, washing hands frequently, wearing face masks properly, maintaining social distancing, and remaining in self-isolation in case of having monkeypox symptoms.
Among the alarming symptoms associated with this infection are rashes or skin lesions, fever, headache, back and muscle pain, swollen glands, and intense fatigue.
The government agency reiterated that those suspecting moneypox infection on the basis of symptoms like rashes or skin lesions must go to the nearest health facility or call 113, extension 6, for more information on the matter.
