Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Gustavo Meza-Cuadra participated in a ceremony to welcome a donation from the Swiss Government represented in Lima by Ambassador Markus-Alexander Antonietti.
The aid consisted of personal protective equipment (PPE) and medical supplies that will be useful for the efforts undertaken within the framework of the national emergency to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
The cooperation has included training for municipal personnel in water and sanitation issues, as well as relevant logistical support for the National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci).
Arequipa, Ica, Junin, Huanuco, San Martin, Madre de Dios, and Ancash —which have registered increase in COVID-19 cases— remain under mandatory social isolation. In those areas, residents are allowed to leave their homes only to have access to essential services and goods and to carry out authorized economic activities.
