A new batch of 576,810 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine has arrived in Peru to continue the immunization of people over 12 years of age, the National Center for Supply of Strategic Resources in Health (Cenares) of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) has reported.

Cenares General Manager Jose Antonio Gonzales highlighted the logistical work and the role that the institution plays to receive, verify the quality, and distribute the vaccines through the Integrated Health Networks and Regional Health Directorates.

Gonzales said that this interaction contributes to achieving the vaccination campaign goals —promoted by Minsa— on a national scale.

On the other hand, the official underscored that so far the country has received 40,372,320 Pfizer vaccines, within the framework of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

In this context, Minsa reported that a non-stop 36-hour vaccination drive will be held in Lima and Callao, in addition to 12-hour drives in various regions across the country, in order to continue the immunization process this weekend (April 9-10).

"A non-stop 36-hour vaccination drive will be held in Metropolitan Lima and Callao on Saturday and Sunday, in addition to 12-hour drives in various regions across the country," Minsa Immunizations Director Maria Elena Martinez explained.
