The Special Prosecutor's Office Specialized in Money Laundering Offenses carries out a search operation at 15 properties located in eight districts of Lima —as part of the Odebrecht case in which, among others, former Provias official Luis Held Ponce and former Deputy Transportation Minister Henry Zaira Rojas are being investigated.
The operation began early Tuesday morning. It is in charge of Prosecutors Carol Cuba Peralta and Diana Canchihuaman Castañeda —under the coordination of Superior Prosecutor
Rafael Vela Barba.
Prosecutor Cuba Peralta investigates the Brazilian construction company Odebrecht focused on the Matarani-La Punta Bombon Highway project.
Two of the three homes raided by her office are linked to Held Ponce and Zaira Rojas.
"In the case handled by Prosecutor Canchihuaman Castañeda, the raid on 12 properties is linked to the investigations on the 'arbitration' case also linked to the Brazilian Odebrecht," the statement indicated on Twitter.
"It must be noted that both magistrates are part of the Lava Jato Special (Prosecution) Group," it concluded.
As is known, the Brazilian construction company admitted to having paid millions in bribes to government officials in Peru, in order to secure public work contracts.
