A mass procession took place Thursday in North-Andean Cajamarca city as part of the traditional Feast of Corpus Christi, going around the main square and passing through flower carpeted streets.

The festivity called on Catholics to deepen their faith in the Eucharist; hence children, youth and adults participated in Corpus Christi-related activities on Thursday, which was declared a local holiday.

Religious activities kicked off at dawn, with the elaboration of colorful carpets around Cajamarca's main square.

Monsignor Angel Francisco Simon Piorno celebrated a mass at the Cathedral at 10:00 AM.

The procession began after 11:00 AM to the rhythm of Los Chunchos —Cajamarca's typical dance declared as National Cultural Heritage of Peru.

Additional activities include a trade show at Qhapaq Ñan complex.
