Peruvian Prime Minister Anibal Torres on Wednesday morning announced that he has offered his resignation to the President of the Republic Pedro Castillo.

In a letter addressed to the Head of State, he wrote that this decision was based on personal reasons.

"I take this opportunity to thank you for the trust placed in me, first as Minister of Justice, and then as Prime Minister," the letter reads.

Likewise, the Cabinet chief noted that he is stepping down from the post "after having served our country, especially the most neglected and forgotten people, along with you."

In the letter published on his official Twitter account, Mr. Torres expressed his desire to return to university classrooms along with his students and to get back to what he missed the most: legal research.

"I wish you, Mr. President and friend, every success in your administration," the letter concluded.
