The Presidency of the Republic on Wednesday highlighted the eradication of 2,000 hectares of illegal coca leaf plantations, thereby preventing its conversion into cocaine hydrochloride.

Via its official account on the X platform (formerly Twitter), the Presidential Office stressed that this eradication constitutes a blow to illicit drug trafficking.

"For a drug-free Peru, from last February to date we have eradicated 2,000 hectares of coca leaves, preventing 23 tons of cocaine hydrochloride, from Huanuco, Pasco, and Ucayali (regions)," it pointed out in a video attached to the post.

Likewise, the Office indicated that law enforcement managed to eliminate five rustic laboratories linked to the production of said narcotic.

"By working together, we prevent and combat illicit drug trafficking at the national level," it concluded.
