President Martin Vizcarra on Wednesday affirmed Peruvian athletes will break medal records at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, thus surpassing national participation compared to the previous competition held four years ago.

Within this framework, the Head of State indicated that —one month away from the inauguration— the Inca country is ready to host one of the most important events in the world.

Likewise, he pointed out that organizing such competitions represents an opportunity to improve not only the sports infrastructure, but also the road network

Remarks were made during the inauguration of the Armendariz Viaduct that will enhance the connection between Lima's southern Miraflores and Barranco districts.

In this sense, the top official informed this work is the result of an investment made by the Transport and Communications Ministry (MTC) and Lima's Municipality

Furthermore, the statesman urged citizens to continue joining efforts in order to develop great projects aimed at improving the quality of life of all Peruvians

The Pan American Games will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2019.
