Peru: President visits soldiers on border with Ecuador and Colombia

Accompanied by some State Ministers, the President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Saturday paid a visit to the military detachment in charge of guarding the Peruvian, Ecuadorian, and Colombian tripartite border.

Within this framework, the Head of State inspected the barracks of the jungle battalion known as Second Sergeant Fernando Lores Tenazoa No. 83.

Mr. Castillo delivered equipment for the military personnel stationed at the site.

This contingent is made up of 107 members. The top official spoke with several of them, who at the time of his visit were performing their daily duties.


The Executive Branch delegation reached this area of Putumayo province as part of the activities fulfilled by the Head of State in the Peruvian Amazonia.

Mr. Castillo arrived in Loreto region last night in order to visit various areas.


Established in 1969, the Andean Community is an integration mechanism currently comprising Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.
