Peru President visits Guaman Poma de Ayala exhibit in Panama

12:20 | Panama City (Panama), Jul. 1.

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Sunday visited the Archaeological Site of Panama Viejo, which presents the exhibition "Camina el autor" (The author walks) by Peruvian chronicler Felipe Guaman Poma de Ayala.

Joined by Foreign Affairs Minister Nestor Popolizio, the Head of State visited the archaeological site, which contains vestiges of Panama City's original location before it was replaced by a 'new town' (the 'Historic District').

"Camina el autor" features the work of Amerindian chronicler Felipe Guaman Poma de Ayala (1534-1615).

Guaman Poma de Ayala is known for his illustrated chronicles through which he shared his view of Peruvian society after the Spanish conquest of Tahuantinsuyo or Inca Empire.

The exhibit was mounted with the support of Peru's Foreign Affairs Ministry and displays 398 drawings by the aforementioned chronicler, as well as printed panels and photographs.
