The
President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Tuesday urged Congress to put aside frictions and confrontations so that the latter can put some initiatives submitted by the Executive Branch on the agenda and approve them.
The Head of State underscored that various bills are pending consideration of Parliament, as is the case of the massive use of natural gas and the creation of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Mr. Castillo made his remarks during a speech at Pampas Main Square in Huancavelica region, where he participated in the handing over of 756 deeds to people of rural areas and of pre-basic seeds to potato farmers.
"From this historic square situated in a struggling region, I urge the Congress of the Republic to put aside frictions and confrontations. Let us support Huancavelica and the population. Put these bills on the agenda once and for all," he stated.
The President affirmed that the Executive Branch has submitted more than 33 bills to Parliament, including those aimed at recovering resources of regions, such as natural gas, which belongs to all Peruvians, so that it can be provided to the poorest families in the country.
"… because the rights of those who live on the hills, as well as the rights of farmers and laborers, cannot be ignored, scorned or trampled upon under this Government, because we all enjoy the same rights before the law and justice," the top dignitary said.
"I respect the branches of government, but I must say that they were created to serve the population," he added.
Moreover, Mr. Castillo urged Congress to put on the agenda the bill to enjoin the collection of taxes on profits made by mining companies and other firms, in order to allocate said resources to improve the quality of life of the population.
