The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Saturday urged regional and local authorities to invest their budget in public works which benefit citizens and that these be duly communicated to them.

During his visit to the Port of Huarmey, the Head of State indicated that the COVID-19 pandemic does not allow his administration to fulfill some promises that had been made. Yet he said it will intend to make progress on those works.

"Let's grant a budget to the mayor, the governor, the authority, the community; even the last cent must be invested in those (public) works (…)," he expressed.

In this sense, the top official specified that Huarmey and Culebras Dock area authorities will meet with Production Minister Jorge Prado on February 1, so that the recovery of the aforementioned jurisdictions' terminals is prioritized.

During his visit to the port, Mr. Castillo talked with some fishermen, who told him of their needs and he promised to solve them.

Previously, the President made an inspection visit to 88109 Alfonso Ugarte School and the artisanal dock in Culebras district, Huarmey province.

Later, he plans to visit the Ports of Huacho and Chancay, both located in Lima region.
