Peru President suggests using isolation time to enrich family relationship

17:26 | Lima, Mar. 18.

The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra on Wednesday requested citizens to take advantage of the current COVID-19 social isolation period —always respecting the measure without seeking excuses to carry out collective activities outside their homes.

The Head of State pointed out that many times actions and decisions have been postponed due to lack of time, which is why he called on citizens to make the most of the mandatory isolation time by enriching their bonds with family members.

"Enrich the relationship with your family, and by enriching your family relationship, you are contributing to the country. Do it," he expressed.

The top official specified that —while taking advantage of that time together— the "spirit of this measure of isolation" must be respected. Thus, no excuses should be sought to carry out collective activities outside the homes.

The statesman added that "although sport is healthy, at this moment what prevails is social isolation."

Mr. Vizcarra requested the collaboration of parents, teenagers, and children for the correct compliance with the measure. In this sense, he considered that the latter are increasingly aware of the situation and tend to be more responsible than adults when it comes to abiding by the rules implemented "for the benefit of all of us."

On the occasion, the President was joined by members of the Council of Ministers. The event was held at the Government Palace in Lima.
