on Tuesday assured that the Government respects and will continue respecting the independence and autonomy of the entities belonging to Peru's justice administration system.
"We want a justice administration system which acts in a timely manner and with the utmost firmness against delinquency and criminality," Mr. Castillo emphasized in his speech.
According to the top official, for a long time Peruvians have been demanding that justice be on the side of victims, resolve flagrante delicto cases, as well impose drastic and exemplary sentences.
"The rule of law cannot allow criminal organizations to act with impunity. We must guarantee the right to live in peace and order," he emphasized.
Reality requires trusting judges who have unwavering willingness to embody a Judicial Branch committed to serving every citizen and leaving behind the structures which keep it distant from the population, he pointed out.
"It is the opportunity to strengthen the role of the Judiciary in the eyes of citizenry and contribute to a more just and inclusive society," Mr. Castillo expressed.
The Head of State also recalled that the Judiciary had faced serious legitimacy problems due to corruption cases which had involved bad judges.
Thus, it is necessary to "separate the wheat from the chaff," an effort undertaken by the current administration of Judiciary Chairwoman Elvia Barrios, he concluded.
