The
on Wednesday evening welcomed a new batch of 200,070 vaccine doses against COVID-19 from Pfizer pharmaceutical company, which will serve to continue immunizing the population.
Said cargo arrived at Lima's Jorge Chavez International Airport at 6:00 p.m. (local time) on a KLM flight from the city of Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
Also present at the event were Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez and Health Minister Oscar Ugarte.
Peru has secured contracts to acquire 48 million doses of vaccines against COVID-19 in order to immunize all citizens aged above 18 until the end of the year.
As previously announced, starting this Wednesday, Peru will receive 200,000 doses from the Pfizer laboratory every week, in accordance with a contract signed by the Peruvian Government.
"Starting today and throughout the month of April, we will receive a total of 800,280 vaccine doses from the Pfizer laboratory," President Sagasti affirmed on the occasion.
