The
on Tuesday supervised the arrival of the container ship "Fullerton" at the Southern Dock of Callao.
The Head of State stressed that the arrival of this vessel marks a milestone in our port, economic, and commercial history.
"This event is the result of hard work, planning, and collaboration between the public and private sectors to achieve the modernization of our ports, as well as the development and progress of our homeland," she expressed.
The impressive vessel has a cargo capacity of more than 17,290 TEUs (20-foot containers) and arrived in Callao region after having set sail from the port of Busan, South Korea, passing through China, Taiwan, Mexico, and Colombia.
The ship carries modern machinery and equipment; chemical and household products; groceries; as well as many other everyday products.
"Its arrival also implies the generation of economic activities, such as logistics for their unloading and transportation, which represents employment opportunities for more Peruvians," she underlined.
Lastly, the top official stressed that the arrival of the "Fullerton" represents a clear message of confidence in Peru's port infrastructure and demonstrates that this country has the necessary logistics to handle large-scale operations, which strengthens Peru's image internationally with a view to attracting more investments.
