Peru: President meets with Sucamec chief to review oversight actions

The President of the Republic, Jose Jeri, met on Monday with Superintendence for the Control of Security Services, Weapons, Ammunition, and Explosives for Civil Use (Sucamec) Chief Rafael Rios, as part of the fight against crime.

The meeting aimed to review oversight and control actions regarding the use of firearms and ammunition, as measures adopted to tackle this scourge, the Presidential Office reported on X.

Likewise, the Head of State urged Rios to take the necessary actions in the shortest time possible.

Earlier, President Jeri took part in the flag-raising ceremony held at Simon Bolivar School in Lima's Comas district.

There, the top official announced that he will travel to Huanuco on Tuesday, marking the start of a three-month series of visits to each region to learn about their needs.
