met with the directors of the National Association of Radio Broadcasters, the Regional Associations of Radio and Television of Peru, the Media Coordinator, and the deans of the Colleges of Journalists in the country.
The meeting took place within the framework of an open-door-government featuring unrestricted respect for freedom of the press and expression.
The directors of the abovementioned institutions presented before the Head of State the problems they face and proposed regulating the Law of State Advertising and its decentralization; reviewing radio and TV license cancellations. In addition, they mentioned the need for membership for press professionals who work at State-run institutions.
For his part, the Head of State reiterated the unrestricted respect for freedom of the press and expression.
Moreover, the top official expressed his willingness to continue coordinating with the various professional associations and guilds.
Mr. Castillo also indicated that he will evaluate their concerns within the framework of the laws currently in force.
The meeting was held at the Government Palace last weekend.
