Peru: President meets with labor union leaders

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Saturday met with more than 300 leaders and representatives of the four most important labor union organizations in the country.

The meeting took place within the framework of the open doors for dialogue policy promoted by the Government as a mechanism of democratic legitimacy to unify criteria for public labor policies.

The event was attended by Cabinet chief Guido Bellido, as well as Labor Minister Iber Maravi and other authorities.

It also saw the presence of members of the General Confederation of Workers of Peru (CGTP), the Unitary Central of Workers (CUT Peru), the Confederation of Workers of Peru (CTP), and the Autonomous Central of Workers of Peru (CATP).

The meeting took place at Lima Convention Center.

In Peru, there are around 180,000 private sector workers affiliated with labor unions nationwide.

Only in Lima Metropolitan Area, 806 public unions, as well as 64 public federations and confederations are registered, while there are 1063 unions, 95 federations, and 13 confederations in the private sector.
