The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Monday morning accompanied the Cabinet led by Prime Minister Mirtha Vasquez to the Government Palace gate. Afterwards, ministers left for Congress to support the Government's General Policy and request a confidence vote from lawmakers.

Congress plenary session was scheduled for 11:00 a.m. (local time), according to the Legislative Branch's schedule.

This meeting was called by Congress Chairwoman Maria del Carmen Alva through Parliament's senior official Hugo Rovira.

It was established that the session will be blended, so that legislators will be allowed to join the meeting either at Parliament chamber or through the virtual sessions' platform.

As is known, Mirtha Vasquez officially became Prime Minister on October 6 to lead the Cabinet under the administration of President Pedro Castillo.

According to Article 130 of the Constitution, the Prime Minister must attend Congress joined by the Cabinet to present and debate the Government's General Policy —within 30 days after having been sworn in to office.
