Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Thursday affirmed capital city of Lima's major challenges include territorial planning, pollution, and drinking water access.
The Head of State noted the metropolis —whose population is projected at 11 million— faces an urban planning problem since its streets combine residential and commercial areas, as well as buildings of all sizes.
Likewise, he underlined
drinking water access constitutes an essential issue, as one million Lima residents still do not enjoy such service.
To deal with these problems, Mr. Kuczynski has suggested the creation of a Metropolitan Transit Authority, as well as the awarding of a wastewater treatment plant.
Furthermore, the statesman said a commuter train has been proposed in a bid to improve land and air transportation systems.
Finally, he affirmed his administration also aims at reducing the damage of deglaciation through
reforestation and river management.
