Peru: President leads new Council of Ministers session

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Wednesday led a new session of the Council of Ministers at the Executive Branch headquarters in Lima.

According to the Government Palace Press Secretariat, the meeting started at 11 a.m.

On Tuesday, the Head of State arrived in Parliament to meet with the Board of Congress and spokespersons of political parties, at the invitation of said branch of government.

At the meeting, Mr. Castillo announced that the citizen immobility (curfew) measure that had been in force since 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday in the capital Lima and neighboring port city Callao was no longer in effect.

Moreover, he remarked that the Government cannot support attitudes that go beyond the constitutional right to protest, such as blocking highways or attacking private property.
