She made the remarks to the press in Piura, where she is carrying out various activities as part of preventive measures against El Niño phenomenon.
"I would like to highlight that this was a joint effort with the Bolivian police, and I thank the Bolivian government. With the cooperation of the FBI and our National Police, this major objective was achieved," Fujimori stated.
"Criminal organizations do not recognize borders, which is why cooperation with institutions from other countries is so important," she added.
Likewise, the Head of State reported that Interior Minister Cesar Astudillo is heading to Puno to oversee the transfer of the "Los Pulpos" criminal organization's ringleader to a prison facility in Peru.
Asked why Astudillo had not travelled to Trujillo following the kidnapping of mining businessman Jenss Lara, she said it was due to a personal matter, but that the Interior Minister closely followed every decision made regarding the investigation.
"Minister (Rafael) Belaunde said he could attend; therefore, I decided that he should go," Fujimori mentioned, referring to the Defense Minister's trip to the northern city.
The top official emphasized that the latter had not participated in any interrogation.
Request for legislative powers
President Fujimori underscored that it is very important for the Government to receive delegated powers from Congress to legislate on security matters in order to tackle crime and restore order.
"These powers will allow us, among other things, to strengthen intelligence capabilities so we can obtain information before events occur," Fujimori noted.
"Second, they will allow us to designate not only terrorist groups but also criminal organizations as hostile groups. Third, they will allow us to strengthen a policy of deporting undocumented migrants. Fourth, among many other things, we want to take control of prisons, carry out reorganizations, and also strengthen the justice administration system," she pointed out.
Tania Ramirez's resignation
At another point, the Head of State indicated she had spoken with Education Minister Jose Antonio Chang about the appointment of Tania Ramirez as the Ministry's representative to Derrama Magisterial, a position from which the former congresswoman has already submitted her irrevocable resignation.
"I understand that she (Ramirez) was qualified, but to avoid any inefficiencies, she offered her resignation, and it has already been accepted. Therefore, as far as I am concerned, this case is now closed," she said.
Argentine consultant
When asked whether Argentine consultant Fernando Cerimedo was part of her political campaign, she dismissed these reports.
Fujimori said she did not know why he had been in Peru several weeks ago.
"I can state clearly that Mr. Cerimedo did not participate in our electoral campaign, either in the first or second round. I have no personal or professional relationship with him, nor have I ever had one," Fujimori expressed.
“I do not know the reason for his presence in Peru. You would have to ask him. I may have greeted him somewhere, but I have no communication or relationship with him," she added.
