The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo highlighted the efforts by social organization leaders to make the demands of workers be listened to by authorities.

Mr. Castillo met with health sector workers from various Peruvian regions at the Government Palace in Lima on Friday evening.

Within this framework, the Head of State recalled his experience as a union leader when he used to share a struggle with various grassroots organizations.

In this sense, the top official affirmed that a "Government of the people must respond to the (demands of the) people" and the working class.

Likewise, the President thanked health personnel for their work, which is often performed in precarious conditions to save other Peruvian lives.

Therefore, he called on citizens to see workers not as objects, but as human beings who have a family to support and move forward.

He indicated that, as befits a Government emerged from the popular vote, he will order the Ministries of Health and Economy-Finance (MEF) to be up to the task in order to respond to the working class's demands in what corresponds to regulation and designations.

Furthermore, the President criticized the abandonment of the health sector by former administrations —a situation that was exposed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Faced with this, Mr. Castillo reiterated his commitment to give a true humane face to vulnerable sectors such as education and health, even if that makes some people uncomfortable.
