The President of the Republic, Jose Jeri, oversaw an operation in Lima's Independencia district that led to the capture of the alleged criminal organization "Los Gallegos del Hampa."

It took place within the framework of state of emergency in Lima and Callao declared by the Government.

The Peruvian National Police (PNP) arrested five alleged criminals of Venezuelan nationality, who were found in possession of firearms, dynamite cartridges, and mobile phones.

Lima Central Police Region Chief Hugo Felipe Monroy accompanied the President after highlighting the strengthening of territorial control, patrol, and intelligence efforts.

Those apprehended were inside a five-story building. They will be charged with crimes against public health and safety to the detriment of the Peruvian State.

Two vehicles, drugs, and weapons were also seized from them, which will become part of the investigations. The Northern Lima Prosecutor’s Office will continue with the legal proceedings.

"Thus, the Executive Branch remains firm in the fight against crime and will continue carrying out surprise operations to restore peace and security to all Peruvians," the Presidency of the Republic stated.
