The President of the Republic, Keiko Fujimori, on Monday said she hopes the legislative powers requested by the Executive Branch will be expanded in the coming days during the plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies.

"What I am doing is echoing and giving voice to citizens. I will not go into greater detail on the debate, but I know that in the coming days the Chamber of Deputies will debate the ruling approved by the Constitution Committee, and we hope they will expand this initial ruling that has been approved," Fujimori said.

Remarks were made after participating in the ceremony to hand over 326 title deeds benefiting more than 1,300 residents of various human settlements, young towns, and other organizations in Lima’s San Juan de Lurigancho district.

In this regard, the top official underscored that it was important to "listen to the people in the streets and let them know that citizens also expect politicians to reach agreements so that they can grant this request for the necessary powers, enabling the Government to act more swiftly."

Calm

Regarding the results of the election for the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima, the Head of State called for "waiting for the final result with great responsibility and prudence."

"I will work with the authorities who are elected and whom the National Elections Board declares the winners," Fujimori said.

"There will be a runoff in some regions, and what concerns me is that the transition process will be short, so I appeal to the governors to ensure a swift handover of office, especially in regions that will be affected by El Niño-related rainfall" she added.
