The President of the Republic of Peru Pedro Castillo expressed his solidarity with Vice-President of Argentina Cristina Kirchner, who was attacked by a man when she arrived at her home in the city of Buenos Aires.

"The Peruvian Government condemns the attack against your life that occurred today (Thursday). We repudiate any act of violence," Mr. Castillo affirmed on his official Twitter account last night.

A man was arrested in Argentina yesterday for pointing a firearm at Vice-President Kirchner when she arrived at her residence in Buenos Aires, Security Minister Anibal Fernandez reported.

The image of the suspect pointing at Kirchner's head when she came out of the vehicle that brought her home was broadcast by various TV channels.

In an official address to the nation, the President of the Argentine Republic Alberto Fernandez confirmed that this Friday, September 2, will be declared a national holiday —after the attack against Vice-President Kirchner.

"I have decided to declare tomorrow a national holiday so that, in peace and harmony, the Argentinean people can express themselves in defense of life, democracy, and in solidarity with our Vice-President," President Fernandez expressed.
