The
President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Monday morning participated in a Mass on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the Peruvian National Police (PNP).
The liturgical ceremony took place at the Cathedral of Lima.
The establishment of the Peruvian National Police is celebrated on December 6 each year.
Its creation was regulated by Law 24949, following the merge of the Investigative Police, the Civil Guard, and the Republican Guard.
The basic purpose of the PNP is to prevent, investigate, and combat crime. It also monitors and controls borders. Moreover, it guarantees compliance with laws and the security of public and private assets.
The National Police is a police body under the Ministry of Interior (Mininter), which is currently led by Willy Huerta. Likewise, its Commander General is Raul Alfaro.
