The
President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Monday morning met with the newly elected governors of eight regions in Peru, whom he encouraged to work with the Executive Branch in order to close social gaps and tackle corruption.
After extending his congratulations, the Head of State pointed out that during his Government he has been working with the current regional authorities and called on them to move in the same direction.
Mr. Castillo also asked them to be on the right side, reporting acts of corruption that harm the country and that have resulted in unfinished, even abandoned works in various regions, and called for correcting this situation.
"As Government and Cabinet, we are ready to start working together, on the field itself, as of January 1," the dignitary remarked.
Moreover, the President asked the newly elected authorities to move forward with the work they will undertake with the Executive Branch, instead of waiting until taking office to work on meeting people's needs and the works that they promised to undertake.
The top official invited future governors to join him on his working trips to their regions.
Additionally, the Head of State told them to keep in mind that the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) serves as a platform for coordination.
"You are always welcome, we provide a platform for coordination here," the President said, wishing them success.
The activity featured the following newly elected governors: Wilfredo Oscorima (Ayacucho), Rohel Sanchez (Arequipa), Jorge Chavez (Loreto), Walter Grundel (San Martin), Koki Noriega (Ancash), Antonio Pulgar (Huanuco), Segismundo Cruces (Tumbes), and Leoncio Huayllani (Huancavelica).
