The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Friday urged Peruvian authorities to work in unity, transparently, and without any signs of corruption.

Within this framework, the Head of State announced that the next Council of Ministers session will be held in Peru's southern Moquegua region and then it will take place in one rainforest region.

"I call on all Peruvian authorities to work in unity transparently, promptly, and without any signs of corruption. Whoever owes nothing fears nothing. We must continue talking about a true decentralization of the country," he expressed.

The top official asserted that centralism has hit regions for years, "and we continue witnessing that many times it is not the responsibility of a mayor or governor; it is simply that resources are not being decentralized."

Furthermore, the Head of State pointed out that the issue of citizen insecurity will be addressed with greater responsibility and firmness at the Cabinet level. In this sense, he called on regional authorities to join efforts towards that objective.

"Citizen insecurity problems cannot beat us, crime cannot defeat us. Therefore, we have to stand united, we have to share experiences, and we cannot give respite to this scourge," he added.

Moreover, Mr. Castillo said that all contributions and concerns expressed by regional governors will be incorporated into the Council of Ministers session in order to make them viable as soon as possible.

Remarks were made while closing the executive meeting with regional governors at the Government Palace in Lima.
