The
President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Thursday called for working together to preserve health, build social peace, and promote dialogue with all sectors so as to guarantee an orderly and democratic transition in Peru.
They are part of a total of 95 units that will be handed over to Peru in 2023, commemorating 150 years of the beginning of diplomatic relations between both countries.
In her speech, the top official thanked the Government and people of Japan for the donation and pointed out that this comes in a context "where it is necessary, above all, to protect the health, lives, and integrity of all Peruvians without distinction."
Mrs. Boluarte said the delivery of these units reaffirms the historic cooperation and brotherhood ties, which unite both peoples. She added that her administration will continue to strengthen in this transition period.
The ambulances —she indicated— will be distributed to hospitals and healthcare centers in Arequipa, Ayacucho, Ica, Junín, La Libertad, Lima, Madre de Dios, Callao, Pasco, Tumbes, and Puno regions in order to strengthen their hospital response capacity.
"We are committed to meeting the most urgent demands of our population, and we are on that path," Mrs. Boluarte expressed.
The Head of State said she hopes that these units fulfill the objective for which they have been designed: to save lives, transport patients, and always arrive on time when called by those who need them.
In this sense, the top official asked those who will benefit from these units to take care of them, because they belong to all Peruvians.
"Let us continue working together to preserve and defend health, to build the social peace that we so truly need, to promote dialogue with all sectors, to guarantee an orderly and democratic transition, and thus open a path of hope for the Peruvian people," she expressed.
The event took place at the Government Palace Courtyard of Honor.
In addition, 11 regional governors and 13 regional health directors participated in this ceremony.
