Peru: President Boluarte takes part in tribute to police officers killed in VRAEM

The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Monday morning participated in a funeral ceremony honoring police officers killed in an ambush that occurred on Saturday, February 11, in La Convencion Province (Cusco region).

The ceremony took place at the Diroes headquartes in Lima's Ate district.

The activity also featured Prime Minister Alberto Otarola, Interior Minister Vicente Romero and the relatives of the victims.

Precisely, the coffins holding the remains of six of the seven fallen officers arrived this morning in Lima.


The dead non-commissioned officers included Alfredo Loayza Carbajal, Luis Alberto Cerron Palacios, Wilder Eliseo Conozco, Ivan Muñoz Fasabi, Sandro Lorenzo Villegas Coraihua, and Williams Quispe Anchay.

They all received the corresponding honors given to the members of the National Police, as martyrs of their institution.

The Peruvian National Police (PNP) reported that the attack took place on Saturday at 9:45 a.m. (local time).

At that time, police officers from the Natividad police station and the Dinoes were carrying out their daily duties near the Minirini area in the population center of Natividad.

There, they were ambushed by alleged terrorist criminals using long-range firearms.
