The
President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Sunday announced that the Government has issued a supreme decree that exempts Selective Consumption Tax (ISC) on 84-octane and 90-octane gasoline, as well as on oil.
The initiative seeks tranquility and social stability in the country, especially among farmers and truckers.
"I am sure this measure will help the trucking sector and thereby avoid the increase in prices of essential goods, which has been affecting Peruvian households," he said.
The Head of State remarked that the increase in fuel prices is not the fault of the Government, but is due to external factors such as the war between Russia and Ukraine.
He also emphasized that the Government cannot intervene in the price-control process, since the country abides by a social market economy.
"I ask the trucker and farmer brothers to work together to achieve the development of the country for the benefit of all," Mr. Castillo stated.
Moreover, he noted that the Government will always be at the side of the people and will stand with open arms in search of social peace and general well-being.
Additionally, the President conveyed his greetings and appreciation to all the families whose income has been affected.
