The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Tuesday advocated the use of teamwork to fight public insecurity in the country —a problem that he said is perceived by children, young people, and adults.

At the beginning of the session of the National Council for Citizen Security (Conasec), the Head of State remarked that working as a team can help find the answers needed to face this problem in Peru.

In addition to the issue of insecurity, the top dignitary referred to migration, noting —as an example— that there are around 1,600,000 Venezuelans in the country.

"We will have to take measures in this regard," he pointed out.

Conasec is responsible for formulating, conducting, and evaluating policies, plans, and activities on public safety at the national level.

It is headed by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM), and the Technical Secretariat is managed by the Ministry of Interior (Mininter), through the General Directorate of Public Safety.

For example, today's meeting served to address the actions carried out within the framework of the state of emergency in Metropolitan Lima and Callao, which was extended for an additional 45 calendar days from May 4, 2022.

Moreover, the meeting discussed the results of the agreements adopted in the last session of the 2021 National Council for Citizen Security (Conasec), among other things.
