Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Friday underlined the universal right to a more expeditious justice system during a ceremony held on the occasion of National Judge Day.

The Head of State highlighted justice is crucial for a country to work, hence Peru's need for a transparent and efficient system with digitalized files to simplify and speed up proceedings.

"In my view, everyone has the right to a more expeditious and faster justice —without rushing due processes— but we must get to the bottom of the issue," the statesman affirmed.

"I believe in the fight against corruption; impunity is unacceptable. However, I think we need an organized, transparent country where things are clear […]," he added.

Addressing present judges, the top official indicated the project to build a judicial city —to give most Peruvians access to justice services— is moving forward.

In addition, the President referred to signs of progress in terms of tackling street and organized crime. However, he conceded the country is still lagging in this sense.

"We must all work together: police, judicial system and government. It is a joint effort," he pointed out.

Finally, Mr. Kuczynski expressed hopes for an economic rebound in light of his administration's efforts to jumpstart the economy, which would also translate into further resources for the Peruvian Judiciary.
