The Head of State accepted the resignation, the Secretary of Strategic Communication and Press of the Presidential Office has confirmed.
The departure comes after statements made by him last February —about terrorism and the Navy in Peru— were released.
Prior to the stepping down, Prime Minister Guido Bellido announced that changes would be made for the running of the country.
