The Presidency of the Republic expressed its recognition for elder citizens commemorating their day, which is Monday, August 26.

"Today, we commemorate those who, with their experience and wisdom, have built the Peru we know," reads the message shared on the X platform.

The Government continues to work to ensure the respect and care they deserve, it added.

"Thank you for leading us by example every step of the way!" the Presidential Office expressed.

The Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) also joined in the greetings and reaffirmed its commitment to continue working for the benefit of senior citizens.

"On National Day of Older Adults, let us remember their importance in our lives. We reaffirm our commitment to rewarding all their contributions through care and services that ensure them a dignified life," the PCM stated.

For 11 years, the Senior Citizens Day has been celebrated in Peru every August 26, in accordance with Law No. 30088. This regulation was published in the Official Newspaper El Peruano on October 1, 2013.

The objective of this celebration is to raise awareness in society as a whole, as well as in the Peruvian State, about the role that older adults have played and currently play in our country, as sources of ancestral knowledge and traditional practices.
