Peru presented itself as a strategic and reliable partner at the 12th Italy–Latin America and Caribbean Ministerial Conference, held in Rome on Tuesday.

Minister Schialer emphasized Peru's international outlook, noting an average 4.4% growth over the past two decades, single-digit inflation, and an economy projected to grow around 3% annually through 2028.

At the forum, during his participation in the panel on economic partnership and free trade, he highlighted Peru's strong macroeconomic and open-market policies, underscoring the South American country's commitment to bi-regional dialogue.

Likewise, the government official noted the enormous potential in Peru to expand investments and bilateral business with Italy in the very near term.

"Private investment, productive diversification, and competitiveness demonstrate the country's reliability," he indicated.

Furthermore, Minister Schialer emphasized that Peru promotes responsible and inclusive investment, inviting stakeholders to make the most of a prioritized portfolio of 80 infrastructure projects worth over US$17 billion.

Moreover, the Peruvian diplomat emphasized Latin America's strategic value in the global economy, citing its 60% share of the world’s lithium reserves, 40% of copper production, as well as its rich biodiversity and renewable energy output.

Lastly, the representatives of the participating countries at the forum adopted a joint declaration reaffirming their respect for international law and commitment to democracy.

They also underscored their shared interest in promoting diplomacy for economic growth as a means to favor trade and investment between Italy and Latin America and the Caribbean.
