A forum held in Singapore was the stage where Peru presented the priorities and initiatives that will be developed during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum's meeting to be held in our country this 2024.

At the meeting, entitled "APEC Outcomes and Outlook 2023/2024 Briefing," it was made clear that the thematic priorities proposed by Peru are oriented towards issues that are relevant to citizens.

Ambassador Carlos Vasquez, Chairman of the APEC Peru 2024 Senior Officials' Meetings (SOM Chair), stressed the importance that the South American country attaches to this forum.

At this event, held earlier this week, the scopes of the motto "Empower. Include. Grow" were explained, through which Peru has outlined the main proposals to be worked on this year at the more than 160 meetings that will be held on the occasion.

It was also emphasized that one of the main objectives is to facilitate the transition towards formality of the economic actors from the 21 APEC members through the use of technology and digitalization.

Other participants

In addition to Vasquez, United States Senior Official for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, Ambassador Matt Murray; Peru's APEC Business Advisory Council Chairwoman, Julia Torreblanca; and APEC Secretariat Executive-Director, Rebecca Sta. Maria, participated in the gathering as well.

A roundup of the U.S. 2023 APEC Presidency highlights was also given at the latest event.
