Peruvian Interior Minister Mauro Medina on Thursday informed the police wait for ex-President Alberto Fujimori to be discharged from hospital in order to arrest him, as recently ordered by a court.
A judicial police team arrived at his house after the issuance of search and arrest warrants, but Fujimori claimed to be in poor health and was transferred to Lima-based Centenario Clinic, the official told Canal N local channel.
According to the minister, police officers will act in accordance with the law once the ex-leader is discharged from the medical center.
Medina stated the National Penitentiary Institute (INPE) will decide where Fujimori will serve his sentence.
