Between 200 and 300 National Police members entered the
campus in the Peruvian capital, Lima, on Saturday morning to evict numerous protesters who had been staying at the site for three days.
Supported by an armored car, the police managed to break one of the university campus' main gates to allow law enforcement agents carrying shields and helmets to enter the area.
The entry of said vehicle prompted the collapse of one of the entrance walls of the university compound.
Police used tear gas to disperse protesters who were stationed near the entrance gates.
Several trucks carrying police personnel, as well as patrol cars, remain stationed in the surroundings of the university area.
Overflight of a police helicopter was witnessed for several minutes.
Inside the facilities, a large amount of supplies for the protesters could be seen. Demonstrators had arrived at the site from various regions of the country —especially from southern areas.
At this time, the police have deployed a large security cordon to take control of the interiors of said campus.
All access to the university is being guarded by law enforcement personnel.
