Peru, Poland Deputy Ministers meet in Warsaw

The Governments of Peru and Poland celebrated their 7th Political Consultation Mechanism, a high-level political dialogue to boost the bilateral agenda and discuss matters of common interest.

Peruvian and Polish delegations were led by Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Ambassador Nestor Popolizio and Deputy Minister Marek Ziolkowski, respectively. 

Agenda

Held in Warsaw on Monday, the audience discussed priority issues with a view to coming UN Security Council elections, in which both countries will seek non-permanent membership for the 2018-2019 period.

Topics addressed also included Poland's observer role in the Pacific Alliance, the bloc composed of Peru, Chile, Colombia and Mexico. It supports and encourages the free circulation of goods, services and people across its member States.

Talks also covered cooperation matters in cultural, archaeological, legal and environmental fields. 

Similarly, both parties expressed their interest in signing a Letter of Intention between their diplomatic academies in the short term, as well as the "Working Holiday Program" agreement for Peruvian and Polish youth.
 
In terms of business, the delegations agreed to work on promoting bilateral trade and investment flow within the framework of the Multiparty Trade Agreement uniting the EU, Colombia and Peru.

As part of consultations, Peru and Poland inked the Memorandum of Understanding on Scientific and Logistic Antarctic Cooperation, as well as an agreement on paid work by staff members of a diplomatic or consular mission. 

Lastly, the parties expressed their intention to open additional Peruvian honorary consulates in Poland, in order to expand and reinforce the Inca country's presence in the Baltic Sea nation. 

Peru and Poland will soon celebrate the 95th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
