Peru: PM presents the Government's general policy to Congress

11:24 | Lima, Jun. 12.

Prime Minister Eduardo Arana on Thursday presented to legislators the Government's general policy and the main measures required by his administration. He also requested a vote of confidence.

Earlier today, President Dina Boluarte had accompanied the State ministers to the Government Palace's front, ahead of the Cabinet's presentation.

According to Congress' regulations, the Prime Minister is invited to deliver his presentation for up to 60 minutes. Each State minister, in turn, may speak for no more than 15 minutes.

Once his presentation is over, a three-hour debate will begin, in accordance with the agreement of the Board of Spokespersons.

After the debate, the floor is given again to the Prime Minister so that he may answer the questions posed by Congress members and defend his points of view.

To approve the vote of confidence, a simple majority of the legal number of members of Congress is required.
