Peru: PM meets with head of Authority for Reconstruction with Changes

00:00 | Lima, Mar. 21.

Peruvian Prime Minister Alberto Otarola has met with the head of the Authority for Reconstruction with Changes (ARCC), Rosmary Cornejo, to coordinate the requirements that were reported by local authorities last Saturday when he inspected the response to emergencies in northern Peru.

Both Otarola and Cornejo coordinated the demands of authorities, mainly in the regions of Piura and Tumbes.

Before the meeting, the Cabinet chief told the media that urgent measures will be taken to meet the needs in the country.

"We have listened to all the demands from local authorities and neighbors," he remarked.

The regions of Tumbes, Piura, and Lambayeque were hit by heavy rains since the beginning of this month due to the passage of Cyclone Yaku, which increased the flow of rivers and resulted in the activation of ravines.

The rains caused floods, floodings, and the blockage of roads in several regions across the country.

In light of this, the Government declared a state of emergency in various districts of some provinces in the regions of Piura and Tumbes and others, for 60 calendar days, in order to implement emergency measures and actions.
