Peru PM meets with business associations to discuss reopening proposals

12:07 | Lima, Jun. 10.

Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos met with representatives of business associations to reach an agreement on proposals to support the economic reactivation of Peru in the "new coexistence."

"This pandemic has taught us that we have to delve into the major reforms that the State needs in health, education, financial inclusion and the country's decentralization process," he explained.

The head of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) reported that the Executive Branch works responsibly and avoids measures that merely seek immediate impact on society.

"We cannot take decisions that will end up damaging the country later, thus making our economic reactivation more complicated. We have to work very carefully," he added.

In this regard, the Prime Minister explained that the reactivation involves comprehensive measures, including State purchases from small and medium-sized businesses, tax relief measures, and a boost to the Reactiva Peru Program.

Moreover, Zeballos reiterated that the measures decreed by the Executive Branch apply throughout the country.
