Peru: PM highlights exports increase, positive impact on employment

16:01 | Lima, Mar. 12.

Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzen on Wednesday highlighted that Peruvian exports in January 2025 totaled US$6.922 billion, a 30.7% increase compared to the amount recorded in the same month last year.

"Mining remains the sector that contributes the most to the country's shipments (63% of the total). More exports mean more jobs," he stated on his social media.

Mining —the sector that contributes the most to the South American country's exports (63% of the total)— saw a 38.5% increase in export value in January, with notable growth in copper sales (+47.5%) and gold (+42.1%).

The prices of both minerals were 6.2% and 30% higher, respectively, compared to a year ago.
