Peru PM: Government guarantees transfer of doctors for attention in Lima

15:14 | Lima, May. 11.

The Peruvian Government guarantees the transfer of doctors —who are infected with the novel coronavirus— for them to receive the corresponding attention in Lima, Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos affirmed on Monday.

In remarks to the State-run TV Peru channel, the high-ranking official indicated that humanitarian flights —such as one of those that transported a group of doctors and patients infected with COVID-19 to the capital city last Sunday— prove the full willingness of the Government to collaborate in this task.

Last night, the Armed Forces —at the request of President Martin Vizcarra— transferred medical COVID-19-infected personnel from the rainforest city of Iquitos to Lima on the presidential plane.

That aircraft carried 16 patients, composed of health personnel and members of the Armed Forces affected by this epidemic. The flight complied with the corresponding protocol, as well as the necessary medical prescriptions for this transfer.

The cabinet chief recalled that a total of three evacuation flights arrived in the capital city to serve the health personnel and people who need care.

The first flight brought three doctors, who were transferred to Rebagliati Hospital. Another aircraft transported four doctors, one of them in delicate condition, who will be admitted to Ate Hospital.
